Mike is a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional with BDO Canada Limited serving the Southwestern Ontario area. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from McMaster University which ignited his passion for assisting individuals in a solution focused manner. This coupled with his Master’s Degree in Business Administration provides Mike with a depth of knowledge to draw from when consulting with individuals and companies in financial turmoil.
Since joining the Kitchener practice in June 2001, Mike has assisted a wide range of debtors with his main area of practice being personal bankruptcy and consumer proposals. His high level of professionalism combined with his empathetic approach puts debtors at ease; facilitating difficult conversations. He assists with the corporate restructuring practice in the Kitchener office that involves Court and privately appointed receiverships, proposals and bankruptcies. As a leader within BDO, Mike has oversight responsibilities for the Kitchener and Sarnia offices.
A member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, he sits as the chair of the CAIRP core knowledge exam development board where he has the opportunity to pass along his wealth of insolvency information to the next generation of Licensed Insolvency Trustee candidates. Mike’s enthusiasm for continuing education is further evidenced with his experience as a Board Examiner for the Office of the Superintendent in Bankruptcy.
Over the years, Mike has been active with many literacy and educational initiatives in the community. He is currently the past president of KW Counselling Services, a full service counselling agency providing needed relief to adults, families and children in psychological distress. Mike has also been an active volunteer with Tennis Canada and awarded the volunteer of the year for his efforts.
